Titus and Hedges

I am reserching my Hedges Line and some connect to the Titus line. There are two Hedges that I believed married into the Titus family that I would like to connect to this family

First one is my gg grandmother.

Ruth Titus was born in Pa about Feb 25 1810 . She married Charles Emerson Hedges about 1839. Their first child Mary Jane was born in 1840 in Cheviot Ohio. Charles and Ruth lived in Switzerland County IN in 1850 . Among the families that lived near one another besides them were Nathaniel Gates Hedges who married Jane Titus parents Daniel and Mary Lewis Titus. He was a widow at that time. Lewis Titus John Titus and Nancy ,Mary Lewis TItus age 66 in 1850 widow of Daniel Titus ,John TITUS and Catherine

Davenport Hedges brother of Charles E HEdges married a Elizabeth or Eliza (TITUS) Fisher in 1845.There was a son Sherman John who was born in 1838 that must have been Eliza's child by a previous marriage. Sherman took the name Hedges I believe. Now I believe Eliza was a Titus because on the death certificate of their daughter Alice Brown it list her mothers maiden name as Eliza TITUS.

Another brother Nathaniel Gates Hedges married Jane Titus around 1833 . She is the daughter of Daniel and Mary Lewis Titus.

MY brick wall is trying to find any info on whether Ruth TItus is the daughter of Mary and Daniel Titus.
Also was Elizabeth a TITUS.

I started my husbands tree in 2007. We wanted to know what happened to his grandfather Evan Raymond Titus born in Idaho. Amazingly I found his trail in 2009 and found out that he had been married 3 times and had 11 children. Happy to say those adult children are now in contact with one another and have all united and are having a blast getting aquainted.

I was fascinated to read your research of the Titus name. Recognized some of the Michigan Obits names. My greatgrandfather was adopted to a Titus family so it gets tough. I will share your site with my dad. Thanks so much!

Thanks, MaryAnn

The only child I have for Ebenezer and Nancy is Benjamin James. However there are several clues indicating that they had several others, including Mercy Martha. I'll send you my file that includes what I have on the family.

Hi Bill,

This site is impressive and, while I am not much further finding more on Mercy, Mary and Samantha's parents, Ebenezer and Nancy of Constable in Franklin County, I have developed a pretty fair tree on the Benjamin Titus - Betsy Teachout family of Chateaugay, also in Franklin County, New York. The Northern New York Library Network has the Chateaugay newspapers on line, and I was able to find detailed obituaries for most members of Benjamin's family, along with birth, marriage, land and other notices. While I cannot connect Benjamin in any way to Ebenezer and Nancy, I can answer some of your bits and pieces and stray obituaries with the tree of Benjamin's descendants. I will try sending it privately, as it includes people I am certain are still living. I hope this will help.

In peace,
MaryAnn L. Opet

Syrach, Jacob, Ezekiel Titus

I've seen postings on other web sites that relate Syrack Titus as the father of Jacob Titus (a04). And that Jacob was the father of Sirach Ezekiel Titus. And that Ezekiel was the father of Jesse Noble Titus (a07). Does this match your files? Can you send those? Do you have information of Syrack and his relationship to the Dutch line? Thanks.

Hello Nickie

I collect obits as they come out in the newspapers and add them to my "odds-and-ends" file in the hope that I can connect them to one of the main Titus lines. In this case, I have been unable to connect. If you can contact your grandfather and, hopefully, get the names of his Titus parents and grandparents it would be a great help for Titus research. We can then get back to the US census data and I can go from there.

Hello,
I am a 21 year old college student that stumbled apon your website. I don't know much about my Titus family, but I plan to talk to my grandfather about your site to see if he can relate more to the information on it. The way I found the site was looking for my Dad's obituary, which I found on here. His name is Edward Lee Titus and he past on in 2003. I was wondering if you have more information on why you have this paticular obituariy and if maybe there is some information that I could contribute to the site or just you.
