I can trace my family tree to
Charles R. Titus, early 1800s Arkansas,
Francis M Titus, 1855,
James W Titus, Cleburne, Tx (Great-Gradfather)

Family DNA says I, like you, go back to Titus Syrach De Vries - Syrach Titus.

Do you have the family tree that could cover the 1650-1850 gap?

Jannetje Teunis has a New York Dutch Reform Church [aka New Amsterdam DRC] baptism record of 22 Dec 1641 as c/o Theunis Nyssen. Theunis Nysse & Femmetje Jans [aka Phoebe Sales] were md. same church 2/11/1640. Jannetje Teunis & Titus Sirachs baptized a child "Sjak" on 12/28/1679 in Flatbush DRC in the same year that a Jannetje Teunis & Jan Hanz Bergen baptized son Teunis on 4/20/1679. These two Jannetje's get intermingled, merged, combined and some online family trees show 29-35 children to each couple & the same children!! Jannetje Teunis w/o Jan Hans Bergen is the daughter of Teunis Coevert [& various spellings] who immigrated in 1651 and the baptism records of children begin after 1651. One baptism record of c/o Jan Hansz Bergen & Jannetje Tunis has "of Jamaica" after her name, probably the area of Brooklyn called that and Titus & Jannetje are of Flatbush area. Also, the child Titus of Jannetje Teunis & Titus bapt 3/19/1682 has Jannetje & Cornelis "Tune" [sic] as sponsors, this would be maternal grandmother & uncle. Jannetje & Titus' daughter Tryntjen md. Johannes Van Eckelen and the sponsors for those children having baptism records are maternal grandmother [Jannetje] & the maternal aunts or uncles. Likewise for the baptisms of the children Jan Bergen & Jannetje Teunis are her parents & relatives Lucas & Sara Teunis. The "Register in Alphabetical Order of the Early Settlers of Kings County, Long Island, New York by Teunis G. Bergen has been digitized and readable by "google search". A careful reader will note "supposed" and "some Jannetje Teunis married. . ." which implies to me at least that he was not certain.
I am hopeful someone will believe me.

My mother wa a Titus. I don't know if it is one of the branches you are investigating. The towns of Titusville Pennsylvania, and Titusville Florida were founded by two brothers in the ancestral line. I have some information. The name Daniel rang a bell for me. I guess it is tile to go back and look at my files. I haven't done that for a few years

I can trace my Titus line back to Silas M Titus born June 1827 in Columbus Ohio died on 21 Oct 1915 in Lane County Oregon. Silas is mentioned in the book "Our faces are westward, the 1852 Oregon trail journey of Edward Jay Allen" by Dennis M Larson and Karen L Johnson. He was my 3rd great grandfather. On his death certificate it states a John Titus as father, no mother mentioned. My grandmother actually inherited the land he won through the land grant in Oregon. This is my brick wall...any ideas?
